Soul Food Forever – In my series of large archival pigment prints “Anamnesis and Aporia” which I made for a solo show that I had in Los Angeles at Gallery 169, I took a selection of very small works on paper out of hundreds that I had made from 2011 to 2013 and scanned them at a very high resolution. I then printed them very large on glossy archival paper – 47” x 60”. These are one of a kind prints which are originals and are not multiples. Due to the extremely high resolution scans these prints reveal an incredible amount of detail that would normally be nearly invisible. These details include subtle aspects of texture, luminosity of the media and highly contrasting hues and values of color. Because I used a wide variety of mixed media in the original works on paper – crayon, acrylic, sharpie, charcoal, collage, metallic paints, etc etc, the series of large scale prints reveal unique and constantly shifting formal elements.

VW (Original) – These mixed media originals are painted on street advertisements, originally printed by the famous and now defunct Colby Poster Printing Company. Each one is different and I look and “listen” to what each one is telling me upon my approach with paint, ink, tape, spray paint, etc.
-
Van Horn – A very large and modern abstract piece,Van Horn is a celebration of the glitter and gloom found in industrial spaces or cities. Inspired by the rundown splendor of an abandoned factory on Van Horn street in Montreal—near where the artist lived and worked—this piece reminds us of the many shades found in brick, metal, rust, and weathered cement. The volumes and lines celebrate a crumbling and complex of architecture, as well as the delicate balance that exists between all of these man-made shapes and objects. Numerous tones and colors find themselves layered upon a linen colored background. Fierce and stylish, this abstract painting is truly one of a kind.
-
Rusty waters – Complex yet poetic, this square shaped piece explores the nature and consistency of bodies of water and ponds, as well as the colorful phenomenon of oxidation – both endless sources of inspiration to the artist. Dark and light tones playfully wrestle with each other while bright orange patches of dense pigment detach themselves from a deep turquoise backdrop. A washed over dark tone mutes the surface to create a layer of mystery. Deep, dark, and sophisticated, this piece is contemporary yet romantic and is sure to embolden any decor.
